Network of Education Policy Centres (NEPC)

Brief description

The Network of Education Policy Centres (NEPC) is an international non-governmental membership organisation that gathers 24 institutional members from 18 countries. The NEPC was founded in 2006 and formally established in 2008. It has four employees (Executive director, financial manager, programme officer & administrative officer). NEPC members are public and civil-society organisations that deal with education at different levels from educational research and policy analysis to teacher training and school-based activities. The Network’s contribution to improving education policies in this region is reflected in its highly diverse project portfolio, which includes large projects involving multiple countries. The NEPC’s mission is to promote flexible, participatory, evidence-based and transparent education.

Partner’s role in the project

The NEPC will be to lead the work on dissemination and visibility, assuring high visibility of the project and its results, wide dissemination of the HAND in HAND programmes and recommendations, and encourage replication of the programmes. The NEPC is an international network of education policy centres with 24 institutional members in 18 countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, Kirgizstan, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Montenegro, Turkey, Czech Republic, Georgia) and, as a member of the SIRIUS EU policy network on the education of children and young people with a migrant background, has access to practitioners, researchers and policymakers dealing with the topics of refugee and migrant education throughout the EU. The NEPC will coordinate and support project visibility and dissemination activities and, via effective management and coordination, will ensure high-quality standards as well as regular monitoring of the activities and expenditures.

Staff members involved in the project

Lana Jurko

Lana Jurko has been Executive Director of the NEPC since 2008. She has managed over a dozen international projects and publications in the areas of educational access, justice and policy. She has experience in drafting and writing policy briefs, position papers and media releases and a broad network of experts and policymakers within the field. As a member of the board of the SIRIUS EU policy network, she has access to numerous EU organisations in the field.

Raffaella d’Apolito

Raffaella d’Apolito has been the administrative officer of the NEPC since 2013. She has relevant experience in organising meetings and conferences and significant knowledge in the designing monitoring and evaluation system. She has also significant experience in budget monitoring and financial reporting on EU projects.

Petra Jurlina

Petra Jurlina has been working as a Project Coordinator in NEPC since June 2017. Prior to joining the team she had worked with several other NGOs in Croatia, coordinating programmes and projects related to human rights protection and peace and conflict studies. She has a B.A. in Political Science (University of Zagreb) and M.A. in Nationalism Studies (Central European University, Budapest, 2008).

Pietro Santilli

Pietro Santilli joined the NEPC team in September 2017 as a project coordinator. He has experience as as an administrative assistant, as a social media editor, and as a newspaper contributor. He graduated in Political Science and majored in Public Relations (University of Turin). In 2012 he got a Master of Arts diploma in Journalism (University of Turin).
